The elbow remains a challenging joint. We aim to assess current practice, new findings and share our own practice experience with you the consumer / patient / colleague. This approach, we believe, can only strengthen and accelerate our contribution to the understanding of this joint.

Elbow anatomy is complex and has a wide number of common variations. A thorough understanding of the common anatomy with all its variations allows for better understanding of disease processes and their treatment

The elbow is not only a difficult joint to properly manage, but surgery on the elbow joint is technically challenging, with post-operative rehabilitation being of utmost importance.

Much of the basic science of elbow function and its function under the influence of pathology, notably trauma and arthritis is an area of great academic interest. Much more research is needed in these areas, which unfortunately are difficult to fund. The research that is currently being undertaken focusses on elbow biomechanics, in normal and pathological elbows.
